Membership Categories:
Senior Members: Have made verifiable contributions to the sport of fishing or relevant scientific research into conservation and sustainability of our water ways and the species that populate them. Such accomplishments are often evidenced by publication, popular media, or broadcast media. Senior members must also demonstrate unequalled skill and proficiency as an angler.
Honourary Members: Have met the same qualifications as senior members, and indeed were often senior members at some point. Honourary members enjoy complete tenureship in the Alliance and the benefits of a lifetime membership. In order to attain this prestigious rank, an existing member of the alliance must be voted in by the three most senior members.
Comrades: Have evidenced a sustained interest in some aspect of fishing and have contributed in general terms to the cause of sustainability and conservation.
Associates: Individuals who wish to associate with The Royal Fishing Alliance and support its mission. These individuals are crucial to the Alliance’s outreach programs as they create an extended network of awareness and financial support.
Qualifications and Categories for Membership:
The basic categories of membership in the Alliance are Senior Member, Comrade, and Associate.
All applicants are expected to be men and women of good reputation and of excellent moral and ethical standards. Extensive fishing without a the purpose or objective of scientific study or for furthering the sport (such as big game fishing, photography or similar pursuits in remote parts of the world) does not represent sufficient qualification to become a member of the Alliance. On the other hand, active participation in fishing expeditions sponsored by organizations recognized by the Alliance, are given due consideration.
Application for Membership:
In order to apply for membership, you must be sponsored by an active or honourary R.F.A. member, comrade or associate. Sponsorship is a critical component of the applications process. The R.F.A. is a community built firmly on the fellowship of our members. Someone already a member must stand up in order for you to become a member of this group. If you wish to join the R.F.A. and are without sponsorship, please email us with a short introduction of yourself, why you wish to join, and your accomplishments to satisfy qualification and we will put you in contact with a member at your nearest R.F.A. chapter.
